ASDAN Diversity Across BLP
Wed, 15th Feb 2023Through our Bridge 2 Employment program, we offer our young people a person-centered approach to learning that incorporates employability skills, work experience, and social enterprise into their areas of interest or expertise.
As part of this, we offer a wide variety of accredited, short, ASDAN courses that young people are able to choose from and work through. While we offer the Environment, Animal Care, and Foodwise, across our 3 sites there are different courses that our young people have elected to take. In Castle Douglas for example Jonny is working towards his Sport and Fitness ASDAN, where he has recently completed a challenge by making a poster informing people about sport in our local area. Tracey and Laura on the other hand are working through the vocational Hair and Beauty ASDAN course. Through this, they are learning a variety of new skills together and have spent time learning nail care and have practiced painting each other’s nails.
In Dumfries, we are able to offer young people the option of a Computing ASDAN thanks to one of our young people assisting in the delivery. And in Stranraer we have young people taking independent work time to complete a variety of courses such as; Football, Science, English, and more. As part of one of our young people’s Football ASDAN they even had the opportunity to go to Stranraer Football Club’s training gorunds and interview their coach Jamie Hamill.
Its great to be able to offer such a diverse range, and we enjoy seeing our young people learning about their passions.
