ASN Network Releases Its Second Report

Tue, 5th Jul 2022

Better Lives Partnership is part of a new pilot programme to create wider opportunities for people with additional support needs.

The ASN Learning Network is supported by South of Scotland Enterprise and funded by Inspiring Scotland. The aims of this network are to increase employment opportunities, share best practices, and encourage innovation as well as identify barriers to opportunities for autistic people, those with learning disabilities and those with sensory impairment.

The second report was released in July 2022 and can be read through the link below.

ASN Learning Network | Report 2 (office.com) The second report presents the findings from an engagement of 12 young people from the Branching Out Youth Group and Borders Additional Needs Group. The young people took part in a session at Borders College in Galashiels to talk about jobs and support.

Part of the aims of the network is to share best practices and innovation in the South of Scotland region in transition and employability policy for young people and adults with additional support needs. As part of this our Chief Executive Officer, Carolyn Kennedy, presented a Spotlight Session to show how Better Lives Partnership operates and adapts for our young people. This presentation can also be seen in the report.

Carolyn Kennedy, Better Lives Partnership’s Chief Executive, says: “The ASN Learning Network is providing Better Lives Partnership with an excellent networking opportunity.  Linking in with the Network enables us to share news and learn from other Providers who are working to support individuals with ASN across Dumfries and Galloway and Borders Regions.  I am pleased that the ‘Spotlight Session’ has enabled us to share how we work with young people (aged 16-25 years) at Better Lives Partnership through our Bridge to Employment Programmes.”

Better Lives Partnership is delighted to be a part of the ASN Learning Network. The network grew from a joint concept between the Usual Place of Dumfries and BANG in the Scottish Borders.
