Building A Sensory Board!

Fri, 19th May 2023

This week our young people have been putting together a sensory board for Little Acorns Pre-School Learning Centre in Dumfries!

A sensory board is a hands-on activity board that encourages explorative play. Our young people painted and decorated our board with different components that the children at Little Acorns can investigate and play with. This board was specially requested for one of the autistic children at the Learning Centre who loves CDs so the young people made sure these were incorporated into the board.

The young people also used switches, door handles, and a calculator to create different toys, as well as a xylophone to incorporate the different senses!

Debbie, one of our Employability Support Workers in Dumfries, said:

“This is a wonderful project to have been a part of and our young people are really proud of the results. We are delighted to be donating the sensory board to Little Acorns and hope they get as much enjoyment out of it as we had while making it!”
