Environment Highlights From Castle Douglas
Tue, 16th Aug 2022
The Castle Douglas Team has worked to protect our Environment this year!
From planting potatoes via their volunteering in the community garden with the Castle Douglas Development Forum to travelling to Mersehead RSPB reserve to learn about all the different birds, the young people at Castle Douglas have been learning about how to protect the environment.
They have also worked with the amazing Abi Mordin from Propagate who put together an informative, engaging, and interactive, session on growing food and land usage in Scotland. Which we followed up with a trip to The Ethical Dairy.

The Castle Douglas team have also taken an overnight trip to FSC Millport for an amazing Outdoor Learning Experience, learning all about climate change and sustainability, as well as having a great time at Millport.
And in researching food waste and how to prevent it, the Castle Douglas team worked with the local Co-op to spread out the leftover food, including giving some of the vegetables to Fairhill Services Ltd for some of their animals.

Thanks to The Holywood Trust for funding and supporting our environment course this year, we are happy to announce that our environment course is now one of our core strands of Bridge 2 Employment.
