Stranraer Peer Mentors in Action!

Thu, 12th Jan 2023

Last November Stranraer launched our peer mentor program!

The appointment of our first group of Peer Mentors included; Keavy, DemiLee, Ryan, and Chris, all of whom submitted excellent applications for the position. To honor their new role all of our peer mentors have been presented with a badge to identify them within the group.

Our Peer Mentors will work together as a team to make sure that new young people are supported when they start at Better Lives. They will also work closely with staff to develop new ideas and activities for the group, as well as support fundraising and community projects. The peer mentor program also allows our young people to develop their leadership skills and gain a recognised Leadership Award.

Since returning to the workroom for the New Year one of our Peer Mentors, Keavy, has been assisting with the delivery of our PSHE (Physical, Social, Health, Economics) ASDAN. We started these sessions by discussing emotional well-being and how personal connections impact this. The Young People split into groups and started work on producing posters detailing the definition of emotional well-being, their feelings, thoughts, and different coping strategies surrounding connecting with others.

Well done to all our Peer Mentors!
