Tasty Treats, Every Week!

Thu, 23rd Sep 2021

As part of our Independent living course at B2E @Wigtownshire our young people regularly enjoy cooking meals together and eating together. Since reopening for the new term our young people have made soup, and traybakes and planned their own healthy packed lunches, decided on a budget, shopped for the ingredients then prepared the results for a group lunch!

In previous weeks our young people decided while it might not be Shrove Tuesday that a Tuesday is good enough reason for Pancakes! Our young people researched the recipe, bought all the ingredients, and treated the Stranraer team to a delicious stack of pancakes with blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream!

If you fancy making your own pancakes like our groups, you can follow their recipe!

Ingredients:

175g of Self Raising Flour

40g of Caster Sugar

1tsp of Baking Powder

200 ml of Milk

1 Egg

Equipment:

Scales

Whisk

Bowl

Measuring Spoon

Measuring Jug

Step One: Weigh out the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix them together. Make a small well in the dry ingredients.

Step Two: Whisk the milk and egg together in a separate bowl. And pour the mixture into the well you made with the dry ingredients.

Step Three: Mix the dry and wet ingredients together to form a batter.

Step Four: When the mixture has no lumps heat a frying pan on a hob over medium heat, once hot melt a small amount of butter on the pan.

Step Five: Use a ΒΌ Cup to measure out the batter and pour it onto a hot pan. Wait for the mixture to start bubbling across the whole pancake before flipping and make sure it is cooked through!

Step Six: Put your cooked pancake on a plate and smother it with your chosen topping and enjoy!
