Sports for life!

Thu, 28th Aug 2025

We have been lucky enough to have been awarded funding from The Self-Management Fund via The Health and Social Care Alliance to deliver person-centred sports activities over three years! The young people started are really excited to get the chance to take part in a variety of sports, some of which would otherwise be out of their reach. Some of the sports on the agenda include outdoor water sports, gym and swim, curling, ice skating and running archery, golf, nature walks and cycling with some fun outings thrown in with trampolining and laser tag on the wish list. This funding will allow us to give the young people the knowledge and opportunity to start their fitness journeys and the impetus to carry on with their good habits going forward in life.

This project is about removing barriers for our young people to enable them to access a variety of sports opportunities. It will take place right across Dumfries and Galloway where from our bases in Dumfries, Castle Douglas and Stranraer, our young people would be supported to access and use a variety of facilities and visiting instructors will deliver fitness sessions at the sites with the young people in the form of exercise sessions and walks and runs educating the young people on how they can achieve fitness for free independently.
