Summer Scheme
Thu, 14th Aug 2025
Summer is a great time at BLP with several weeks of the holidays taken up with summer activities consisting of outings, get togethers and activities. The weather this year made it all the more special and the young people enjoyed a wide variety of experiences. The Castle Douglas group went trampolining at Gravity followed by shopping at Braehead. They visited Mabie Farm Park, and Threave gardens. They joined the Dumfries site at Game On, Carlisle taking part in ten pin bowling and darts!
Dumfries enjoyed karting and bowling, cinema and shopping, an escape room visit and a trip to Samye-Ling Buddhist Centre. Go karting was a hit with all the young people that attended and they will definitely be back! Senior Support Worker Debbie said “It’s really amazing to watch all our young people grow in confidence and know that when they are out with us they are able to have fun and be themselves. Social inclusion is a big barrier for most of our young people so it’s always good to know we are doing a good job helping them with this.”
Outings for the Stranraer group included a trip to Portpatrick for mini golf, lunch and time at the beach and a great day volunteering at Skiffieworlds festival in Stranraer, the World Championship of the St Ayles Class of coastal rowing boat, held on the beautiful waters of Loch Ryan.
