#BetterLivesCD is a Kingdom of Creatures!

Fri, 13th Jan 2023

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Jordan from Kingdom of Creatures to the workroom for a highly anticipated afternoon!

Kingdom of Creatures is an organisation for the promotion of animal Education which provides and explores the education and welfare of their incredible animals. They offer exclusive opportunities to come face-to-face with some of their exotic pets including Reptiles, Invertebrates, and small mammals. To find out more about Kingdom of Creatures check out their website!

The young people chose this experience themselves as part of their money from Youth Work Dumfries and Galloway’s 10,000 Voices in Action. They had been looking forward to Jordan’s visit for weeks and it was everything we hoped for.

We had an amazing time meeting the animals from Sneezy the adorable Syrian Hamster to Gina the Leopard Gecko who enjoyed a perch on Thomas our Social Media and Communication Intern’s head. We found out all about the animals who visited from what they like to eat to how to properly care for them. We also prepared hay bombs for Snowflake the rabbit to enjoy on her journey home.

After a fun-filled afternoon, Jordan tested our knowledge with a quiz. It was neck and neck until the very end with each group scoring lots of points, but ‘A Bug’s Life’ snatched victory right at the very end!
