Big Days Out!

Fri, 22nd Oct 2021

We have been joining Youth Work DG for their Big Days Out across Dumfries and Galloway.

Dumfries & Galloway Councils Youth Work Service provides opportunities for young people aged 12 – 25 years old across Dumfries & Galloway, and this year they launched a series of Big Days Out for young people during the October holidays. These days consisted of free activities for young people, including live performances from local artists, activities from Galloway Activity centre, sports taster sessions, and much more!

Our B2E @ Wigtownshire and B2E @ Stewartry teams joined Youth Work DG at their Stranraer and Castle Douglas Big Days Out respectively. Bringing a host of activities for young people to enjoy, information about our work, and enjoying the days out ourselves.

In keeping with our new Environment course, supported by the Holywood Trust, the B2E @ Wigtownshire stall had an environmental theme -where you could make jellyfish, endangered animal masks, go climate change word searches and get your face painted like an animal.

While in Castle Douglas the B2E @ Stewartry Team got Spooky. They had Halloween themed colouring sheets designed by our young people and make your own ghostly bunting and were also making teaching people how to make their own lanterns. The team even treated themselves to a chippy lunch!

Both days were fantastic and a great opportunity to have face time with our community. A huge thank you to Youth Work DG for putting the days together and to our young people who came out on their holidays to support the team!
