Speaking Up For Trees and Nature
Fri, 10th Sep 2021On Wednesday 8th September, our Stranraer group’s young environmentalists visited Aldouran Wetland Gardens.
The wetland habitat is home to a community garden, bird hide looking over the wetland, and a boardwalk. It provided the perfect backdrop for our workshops with the Speakers Trust, a charity that works with young people to become more effective communicators and helps build confidence to use their voices to effect change.
The Speakers Trust delivered their Speaking up For Trees and Nature programme with our young people, which is part of the national Young Tree Champions. Speaker’s Trusts acknowledge that young people are passionate about our environment, and since the start of our accredited environmental programme in Stranraer, we are also striving to help our young people make a difference.
During the workshop, the group had a great time discussing the need to ‘speak out’ on behalf of nature and enjoyed identifying local plants, trees, and wildlife.
Thank you to Speaker’s Trust for coming and working with our group it was a great day for all!
