Stranraer Successes!
Mon, 24th Apr 2023Our amazing #TeamStranraer has had a lot of reasons to celebrate recently!
Last month four of our young people received their ASDAN certificates for short courses in Computing, Sport & Fitness, and Football. As part of our Bridge 2 Employment programme we offer young people a range of ASDAN courses to gain accredited skills and knowledge on Employment, Independent Living, and subjects of their own interest. At Stranraer, we offer a varied and wide range of ASDAN courses for young people to choose to work on as part of their independent learning. These courses are on a topic they are interested in or that they see as beneficial to their future employability. Some of these courses include Football, Uniformed Organisations, Computing, Expressive Arts, PSHE, Environment, Gardening, English, and Science.
It is great to see our young people with their certificates and receive accredited qualifications for their hard work. We offer ASDAN courses at all 3 of our site as it gives our team the ability to offer a more flexible means of gaining an accredited qualification. By using an activity-based programme our staff is also able to develop courses to provide meaningful outcomes for a variety of learning needs and assess young people’s knowledge and skills development in a person-centered way.
ASDANs aren’t the only successes being celebrated in Stranraer. In addition, some of the young people have successfully secured their Level 1 and Level 2 horse riding certificates through their sessions with Stranraer Happy Hooves RDA Group. They earnt these certificates by improving their stable management and horse riding techniques. The regular riding sessions are a great opportunity for our young people so we would like to say a big thanks to Debs and Tanya for teaching the group these past few months. And another group was awarded their certificates for completing the most recent stage of their maths book. The group has been working hard recently to expand their maths skills and it was wonderful to see them getting recognition for their hard work.
