Thank You, Dave!

Thu, 2nd Sep 2021

We said our fond farewells to Dave Bleasedale yesterday, as he retired from his position as the chair of our board.

Alongside Andy Margerison, Dave Bleasedale has been at Better Lives since the beginning. As one of the founding trustees, Dave was pivotal in providing a positive destination for young people in Dumfries and Galloway when they transitioned out of education.

He has seen Better Lives go from one work room in Castle Douglas with 5 young people to 3 locations across Dumfries and Galloway, with 18 members of staff, and over 60 young people attending sessions.

From the very beginning, Dave has brought a wealth of experience in the local charitable and voluntary sector with a key focus on people with disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Before starting Better Lives, Dave was involved with the D & G Autism Strategy Group and was instrumental in the development of the local action plan.

We are sad to see Dave leave the board but are so thankful to him over the years for his time, and hard work. We wish him the most wonderful retirement and hope he spends many enjoyable hours with his grandchildren.

Thank you, Dave, you have an open invitation to all our workrooms!
